For the price, it does exactly what it says and does it well. I get advance notice (via beeping) that someone is approaching the front door and garage. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but works great.
When you purchase from them, you think that you are getting a good deal due to the cost. I purchased two of these units through one of Amazon's online vendors known as AsSeenOnTvGuys. But when you see your shipping charges, most of the time it is double if not tripled the cost of the product. This company has a bad reputation online for leaving customers nasty email messages with a lot of profanity, and by not honoring their products. These guys also advertise on eBay a lot, and they make up their prices by charging outrageous shipping costs. The Driveway Patrol unit itself is ok if it stays in dry environment. I just had one of my two go out by sounding off constantly, and I have only had it about 5 months now.
Driveway Patrol Sensor and Receiver KitThis is a great item for safety and security at a great price. I love it.
I bought this a few years ago. At times it worked, but mostly it gave false alarms constantly. I bought the Reporter more than a year ago, and it alarms 99.9% of the time, and I have not had any false alarms. Don't waste your money on this thing Check it out:Chamberlain Wireless Alert System #RWA-300R
However, it gives too many false alarms, to become useless. It would have been great product without this flaw as cost is reasonably low, and everything else is works just fine. I bought this product couple of months ago, and I have tried using it many times. The light goes on only when there is someone (or fairly large object) moving. DO NOT BUY IT. The motion detector is too sensitive and there is no way of controlling it. So everyone in my house switches it off after couple of hours I switch it on.
It might be possible that the unit I got is defective. Other than false alarms the unit pretty much work as expected. I would not recommend to anyone to purchase. It comes factory prefixed settings. Here are my observations on false alarm conditions:- Tree leaves moving causes the alarm to go off.- During fall, dry leaves moving cause the alarm to go off- If there is sudden changes in sunlight on a cloudy day, the alarm goes offI also have motion detector security light installed, which works perfectly. Hardly any false trigger on it.That makes me think this driveway patrol has been designed poorly and does not serve the purpose. My whole family got annoyed with this, as it definitely does not work as expected. It is useless product.
